Coolant Flush

I've got a 95 with 75K miles. . . do I need it?

I purchased a bottle of DEI's Radiator Relief. It has similar claims to Redline's Water Wetter, but they claim to be better also. We'll see.

If I need a coolant flush, how is this performed?

If no coolant flush is needed, I plan to drain ~1 qt of coolant mix and then add the DEI product directly to the reservoir.

i just finished up a few pages worth of step by step , but the check spelling fucktion crashed my page...rrrrrrraaaaawwwwooofuck !

consult a shop manual (can be found in some librarys) . use distilled water . and never add cool liquids to a warmed up engine . when the new coolant is in let the engine run till the thermo opens up then squeze the tube between the water pump and thermostat housing to make shure coolant is flowing freely through . if not you need to bleed the system of air. oh , never use the "check spelling" function in the board !

if your going put some performance additives i would go ahead change out the coolant . its really easy .

GSR's are self-bleeding. The radiator cap is the highest point.

Are you sure you need to use the whole bottle of DEI additive? Water Wetter only requires a couple ounces per gallon of coolant.

You should drain the cooling system completely. If you do flush it, be ready for many gallons of waste fluid that is not easy to dispose of.

Thanks for the effort Klintman. I don't have too much time to stop by the library, so I guess I'll just ask some specific questions. Hopefully someone will answer.

1) If I flush the coolant, is there any pre-flush additive that anyone recommends? I've seen products that you are supposed to add to the coolant before the flush, let the car warm to running temp., then flush.

2) I believe I'm supposed to detach a hose for the flush (after I drain the coolant completely). Which hose is this (and which side of the hose)?

3) Do I need to remove the thermostat?

Holden, DEI recommends adding their entire bottle (32 oz.) to treat up to a 15 quart system. I guess it does seem like a lot compared to Redline Water Wetter. Hopefully the product itself works better.
